The impact of GLOSA on mobility
This trial explored GLOSA’s capacity to revolutionise driver assistance by providing preemptive insights into traffic light timings and optimal speed advice.
GLOSA stands to significantly enhance mobility by informing drivers about upcoming red lights and advising on optimal speeds for hitting green lights. This innovation not only aims to smooth out traffic flow but also to assist road authorities in managing traffic more efficiently, thereby reducing emissions and increasing both safety and comfort for drivers.
Monotch’s role in GLOSA integration
Monotch was instrumental in the trial, enabling seamless data communication between intelligent traffic lights and Ford’s test vehicles. Through an IF2 interface, Monotch facilitated the vital link that allowed for the real-time transmission of traffic light data, underscoring the company’s commitment to advancing smart mobility solutions.
Insights and future directions
The January test yielded valuable insights, confirming GLOSA’s potential to make driving more relaxed and environmentally friendly by suggesting realistic speed advice. This initiative is a step towards reducing emissions and improving traffic flow. It highlights the necessity of further testing to refine and fully integrate GLOSA into traffic management systems.
Collaborative efforts towards smart mobility
The project benefited from the collective expertise of various stakeholders, including Be–Mobile, Connected Signals, Dynniq, MAPtm, Monotch, Sweco, Swarco, Vialis, V-tron and Technolution. In addition, the municipalities of Breda, Helmond, and the Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management are also affiliated. This collaboration underscores the shared vision of leveraging technology to enhance road safety, efficiency, and sustainability, with GLOSA as a promising tool in pursuing intelligent traffic solutions.
