Trucks, trailers, buses and other larger vehicles with deviations in tyre pressure and blowouts are some of the (many) causes of traffic jams, accidents and unnecessary NOx emissions.

Even if you regularly check the tyre pressure, hitting a curb during a ride can already affect the air pressure in the tyre.

How can it be easier for the logistics sector to gain insight into tyre pressure so they can take action before it is too late? This was the question that SmartWayZ.NL tackled as part of the Connected Transport project.

As a solution, an intelligent tyre pressure sensor is installed on a route where many logistics vehicles pass. The information about the tyre pressure is shared in real time with the driver (and the back office of the transport company). By taking immediate action, safety is improved, costs are reduced, and fewer unnecessary exhaust fumes are emitted.
