Direct Communication to Road Users
The team channelled crucial information directly to road users from DENM (Decentralized Environmental Notification Message) text carts used by road inspectors.
Improve road communications
Rijkswaterstaat entrusted Monotch with several key tasks to improve road communications:
- Direct I2V Connection: An interface bridging Rijkswaterstaat’s DENM text carts with the TLEX platform for seamless data flow.
- Standardized DENM Messages: Collection of DENM messages adhering to the Main Road Network-DENM scheme IDD, ensuring uniformity.
- Geofence Filtering: Applying geographical boundaries to messages for targeted communication.
- Secure Message Encryption: Utilizing ASN1.Uper encryption for secure message transmission.
Exploring the potential of seamless data communication
The pilot aimed to test the efficiency of transmitting data from Rijkswaterstaat’s text carts to V-TRON’s onboard units via the TLEX platform. The focus was on effectively informing road users. Monotch took charge of converting messages to the ETSI standard. They also guaranteed the data’s security, speed, and easy monitoring, all under strict governance. The pilot concluded successfully, showcasing the data link’s feasibility and efficiency.
Monotch’s contribution was pivotal. Swiftly converting raw data into ETSI-compliant messages enabled service providers to access a standardised, plug-and-play interface, streamlining the delivery of real-time road information.
