A seamlessly connected system

The Netherlands spearheads this transformation by integrating over 300 Intelligent Traffic Light Controllers, now seamlessly connected to the TLEX® network. This system not only regulates traffic but also facilitates two-way data exchange with road users, marking a significant leap forward in traffic management.

Monotch’s pioneering platform

Monotch’s TLEX platform is the cornerstone of this revolution, providing a vital link between TLCs and road users across the Netherlands. It enables real-time messaging between traffic lights and vehicles, offering optimised green light sequences, speed advice, and priority access for emergency services and eco-friendly transportation. This innovative approach paves the way for more efficient and responsive traffic control systems.

The expansion of Talking Traffic

Within the framework of Talking Traffic, Dutch road authorities have embarked on an ambitious project to expand the TLC network. To date, over 800 TLCs have been ordered, with 600 already operational. This initiative not only focuses on incorporating cutting-edge technology into traffic management but also emphasises the importance of modernising existing infrastructures to accommodate the needs of tomorrow.

Future-proofing traffic control

As the digitalisation of traffic control systems progresses, suppliers are moving away from traditional traffic light controllers in favour of TLCs. This transition underscores a commitment to ensuring that traffic management evolves with technological advancements, securing a more connected and efficient future for road users.
