A clearer insight into the transportation of hazardous materials
A newly erected mast boasting a cutting-edge camera system now stands tall at the entrance gate, initiating a transformative era in container registration.
This technological advancement offers a clearer insight into the transportation of hazardous materials. Moreover, it gives companies real-time access to camera-derived data, significantly enhancing logistics planning.
Introducing the DATACLEP project
The Sentors camera system is a pivotal component of the DATACLEP pilot project at the Port of Moerdijk. This initiative makes sensor-generated data instantly available to companies, truck drivers, and emergency services onsite. Through Monotch’s expertise, a seamless data connection with the camera system has been established, facilitating more efficient goods management and safety measures and smoothing business operations flow across industrial parks.
Enhanced access and alerts for stakeholders
A remarkable feature of this system is its ability to recognise all incoming shipping containers by their BIC code through a single camera scan. Additionally, it captures codes for hazardous materials displayed on ADR signage, including GEVI and UN numbers. This capability allows the Port of Moerdijk to accurately monitor the volume and variety of substances transported through the entrance gate, De Entree, and correlate this information with the port’s multimodal water and rail facilities.
The innovation extends to other companies within the harbour site and industrial estate, which is integral to the pilot project. They will receive timely notifications upon container detection at the entrance and have access to an archive of images and timestamps, invaluable for visual inspections and resolving damage claims.
Pioneering data sharing in a collaborative ecosystem
This initiative marks the first trial of its kind in access configuration and data sharing among businesses on the harbour site and industrial estate. With no definitive data ownership, multiple parties are interested in the same container for various reasons. The pilot aims to develop a robust “data management” framework, ensuring data security and clear guidelines on data access permissions. Monotch, leveraging its vast experience in the traffic sector, is steering the development of data sharing at De Entree.
Elevating datafication in logistics with DALI
The DATACLEP pilot is a component of the DALI project, which endeavours to elevate data certification within the logistics sector of the Netherlands’ southern region. The project focuses on inventing, developing, and applying innovative logistics strategies. Its aim is to enhance value for all stakeholders, streamline goods flows, and maintain a competitive edge in the international market.
For those eager to learn more about this groundbreaking project, further information is available on the Port of Moerdijk’s website. This initiative marks a significant step forward in logistics management and exemplifies Monotch’s commitment to driving innovation in urban mobility and logistics solutions.
