UDAP - Urban Data Access Platform
The Urban Data Access Platform (UDAP) demonstrates how a nationwide connected mobility ecosystem enables transportation agencies, road operators, mobility service providers and vehicle manufacturers to securely exchange real-time data through one shared digital infrastructure. As the national connected mobility platform of the Netherlands, UDAP provides the foundation for deploying connected mobility services that improve road safety, traffic flow, sustainability and multimodal mobility.
Before UDAP, connected mobility initiatives were largely developed in isolation, limiting interoperability and slowing innovation. By connecting the entire mobility ecosystem through one nationwide platform, the Netherlands created one of the world’s largest operational connected mobility ecosystems.
Powered by the TLEX® Traffic Live Exchange Platform, UDAP enables:
- Secure, bi-directional and real-time data exchange
- Open, vendor-independent interoperability
- Integration with existing roadside infrastructure
- Local governance by transportation agencies
- Open standards and standardized data exchange
- Nationwide scalability and high availability
- Trusted data quality across the ecosystem
Today, more than 4 million connected road users, over 1,300 connected Traffic Signal Controllers, 100% of Dutch ambulances and a growing ecosystem of mobility service providers exchange data through UDAP every day. The platform enables proven connected mobility services including Emergency Vehicle Alert (EVA), Road Works Warning (RWW), Green Light Optimal Speed Advice (GLOSA), Time-to-Green (TTG), traffic signal priority and many other innovative applications.
The Netherlands has demonstrated how existing infrastructure can successfully evolve into future-ready digital infrastructure, enabling transportation agencies to continuously deploy new connected mobility services while maintaining interoperability, local governance and freedom of choice.
